Do you have an idea for Great the Show?
Great!!!
While you can always send your pitch to greattheshow @ gmail, we'd like to encourage pitching in this forum. We hope to create an environment where multiple people can give feedback and share ideas.
And of course, this doesn't just apply to you guys! If Joe or I have an idea we want to workshop, we'll post here too!
PLEASE READ:
Here are some things to remember when pitching:
1) Shorts for Great the Show shouldn't be much longer than 1 min in length.
2) Try to keep your short fairly simple/low time commitment. We're not gonna stop you from going hog wild, but we usually don't spend more than 2-3 weeks on cartoons for the show.
3) Create a rough storyboard/thumbnails for your pitch. It's hard to assess what a final cartoon will look like just based on a written description.
4) Pitches in this thread should have a basically full team (writer, animator, voice actors). It's certainly alright if someone takes an interest in a project here and you guys end up collaborating,
but if you are specifically looking for a collaborator, please refer to the appropriate forum!
5) Great the Show shorts don't necessarily have to be funny. Make something YOU think is good! Don't try to specifically appeal to us, just do something you know is great.
6) It used to be that Great: The Show is 720 by 480. The reason for this was to keep the video looking good in YouTube's small (480p) player. In episode 9 we made it widescreen. The last two were in widescreen 1280 x 720, but the 480p submissions still looked good in YouTube's small player. So we'd still like to take 480p submissions as well as 720p.
Lastly, when giving and receiving feedback, try to Be Cool. Don't be offended if someone doesn't take your suggestion, and try to be open minded if you're the person receiving feedback.
Joe and/or myself will try to give feedback for every pitch! Happy fishing!
