I really really don't like that show for a myriad of reasons. I'm not alone in this, am I?

I've never seen much of Friends, they seem regular if a bit irritating. They seem Friendly enough to be my Friend, but I wouldn't be THEIR Friend.
When I was a kid I always just hated that they were Friends cause I had no Friends. I also didn't like anything live action.
Can you share some of the myriad for why it's bad?

My sister really likes Friends. I don't like the characters, or the plotlines and have asked her (my sister) to explain the monkey thing to me a lot but I still don't get it

I consider Friends to be kind of like a network-safe, sanitized version of Seinfeld. It's got a similar premise: A bunch of cool kids living in New York City and getting into wacky hijinks. The difference is that while at the time, Seinfeld was somewhat novel, Friends is...less novel. Although it seems pretty tame now, Seinfeld was actually considered an edgy, "adult" comedy at the time. Friends tries to emulate this, but is simply not as funny or innovative as Seinfeld, and even includes a heavy-handed "romance" storyline between two of its characters that feeds off of the show like a parasite. Another thing is that Seinfeld is somewhat more self-aware than Friends. Seinfeld is pretty aware that the characters on its show are kind of assholes, and we can laugh at and even relate to their antics, but the show makes it pretty clear that Jerry and the other Seinboys would be pretty frustrating to hang out with. Friends, on the other hand, wants us to love its characters, and wants us to be their "Friends". However, all of the characters on Friends are assholes as well. The clear difference that separates Seinfeld from Friends is that Seinfeld knows its protagonists are jerks, and Friends doesn't. TL;DR Friends is like Jerry and the Seinboys, but not as good, and also if there was a boring romance plot with Jerry and Elaine in every single episode.
